Modern Information Technologies in the Earth Sciences


Petropavlovsk on Kamchatka

September 8-13,  2014

 

 

The history of these meetings  on Information Technologies in the Earth Sciences (ITES) dates back to 2008 (Magadan) and 2010 (Vladivostok) when scientists of the Far East Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences hosted two All-Russia national conferences in a row on the ITES advances.

The Far East Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences is proud to announce the International Conference on ITES to be held in 2014 on the Kamchatka Peninsula, and welcome the contributions from universities, research institutes, professional societies, government agencies, industry, and researchers from the Earth sciences community, in particular.

The goal of this International conference is to attract the leading researchers and experts  in information technologies, applied mathematics, geoinformatics, geophysics, system analysis,  exchange acquired knowledge and experience, and discuss possibilities for setting up joint projects and programs.

 

The scope of conference issues to be discussed:

  • Networking for data acquisition. Development of the systems for remote monitoring of natural phenomena.
  • Remote sensing. Satellite monitoring of the environment.  Techniques to analyze satellite data. Services for operational access to satellite data and systems for their processing.  
  • Open access as the modern practice of scientific communication. Electronic libraries and collections. Integration of territory-distributed heterogeneous data collected in the field of Earth sciences.  
  • Virtual research media and laboratories.
  • Unified communications. Cloud technologies. Corporate portals. Experience of constructing and related problems.
  • Geoinformation provisions of fundamental investigations in Earth sciences. Infrastructure of spatial data. Problems of spatial data integration, services and applications. Intellectual GIS.
  • Mathematic modeling of natural processes. Mathematic methods of information analysis.

Languages:

Working languages of the Conference are Russian and English. Abstracts are accepted in both languages.

 

 

Conference fees:

For participants the fee is 5 000 rubles. Cash can be paid upon arrival when registering.

  

Special fee for young scientists  and accompany persons:

The fee is 2 500 rubles .

 

 

Publication of abstracts and selected papers:

The abstracts of papers to be delivered at the conference will be published in the conference volume.

The authors are adviced to use Conference site to upload the abstracts of their talks.

The final decision on author’s partaking and contribution format will be made by the Program
Committee and published at the conference site before May 1, 2014.

Selected papers will be issued in the Journal «Bulletin of the Kamchatka science center FEB RAS » which is listed by VAC.

 

 

Important dates:

Registration of participants: from November 1, 2013 up to April 1, 2014.

Abstract submission: from January 1, 2014 to April 1, 2014.

Notification on acceptance: before May 1, 2014.

 

  

 

Excursions:

The program includes excursion at the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, a sightseeing tour in the city of Petropavlovsk on Kamchatka and a one-day excursion/field trip around the Mutnovsky volcano to learn about its origin and relation with the geological evolution of the Kamchatka Peninsula.

The accompany persons will be offered a special program.
